Summary: This study compared the effects of slow maxillary expansion (SME) and conventional rapid maxillary expansion (RME) on dental and skeletal variables using digital dental casts and cephalograms. The results showed no significant differences in most variables between the two methods, except for greater differences in maxillary canine width and maxillary skeletal width in the RME group.

Diagnostic ability of the primary second molar crown-to-root length ratio and the corresponding underlying premolar position in estimating future expander anchoring teeth exfoliation

Summary: The study assessed the diagnostic ability of the crown-to-root length ratio of the primary second molar and the position of the corresponding underlying premolar in predicting the stability of anchoring teeth after expansion. Results showed that the premolar position in relation to the HPC line had higher accuracy, while the crown-to-root length ratio methods had lower accuracy. The methods exhibited good intra- and inter-examiner agreement.

Summary: This study compared the dento-skeletal effects of rapid maxillary expansion (RME) and slow maxillary expansion (SME) in growing patients. The results showed that both RME and SME were effective in expanding the maxilla, with RME slightly more effective in increasing posterior transverse skeletal width of the maxilla compared to SME.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the three-dimensional dentoskeletal effects of Haas-type and Hyrax-type expanders using primary teeth as anchorage for rapid palate expansion (RPE). The results showed no significant differences in the effects on dentoskeletal parameters between the two types of expanders, but dental expansion was greater than skeletal expansion in RPE.
