Comparison of door-to-balloon time and in-hospital outcomes in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction between before versus after COVID-19 pandemic

Satomi Kobayashi et al.

Summary: This study compared the door-to-balloon time (DTBT) and in-hospital outcomes in patients with ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction (STEMI) before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite a significant increase in DTBT after the pandemic, in-hospital outcomes remained comparable between the two groups.

Prevalence and clinical significance of totally occluded infarct-related arteries in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndromes

Manuel Almendro-Delia et al.

Summary: Approximately one third of patients in this NSTE-ACS cohort had oIRA. However, compared with pIRA, the occurrence of oIRA did not predict poor outcomes, likely due to the higher rate of incomplete revascularization and increased risk of subsequent mortality in patients with pIRA. These exploratory findings warrant further investigation.

Angiography after Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest without ST-Segment Elevation

Steffen Desch et al.

Summary: Among patients with resuscitated out-of-hospital cardiac arrest without ST-segment elevation, the immediate angiography strategy did not provide any benefit over a delayed or selective strategy in terms of the 30-day risk of death from any cause.

Patient delay and benefit of timely reperfusion in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Karl Heinrich Scholz et al.

Summary: Timely reperfusion with a contact-to-balloon time of less than 90 min is most effective in patients presenting with short symptom-onset-to-first-medical-contact intervals of less than 1 hour, but also beneficial in patients with longer intervals of up to 24 hours.

Every minute counts: in-hospital changes of left ventricular regional and global function in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Valeria Cammalleri et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the effects of early percutaneous coronary intervention on changes in in-hospital left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and wall motion score index (WMSI) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. The results showed that reducing the time between first medical contact and reperfusion can positively influence the recovery of left ventricular function in patients during their hospital stay.
