Summary: This study focuses on the control of band gap in mixed-halide 2D hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites. The research demonstrates that mixed-halide perovskites are not simple random alloys and exhibit distinct ordering preferences. Understanding and tuning these preferences are essential for manipulating the properties of these materials.

Interlayer excitons in MoSe2/2D perovskite hybrid heterostructures - the interplay between charge and energy transfer

M. Karpinska et al.

Summary: van der Waals crystals provide unprecedented flexibility for heterostructure design, and the combination of two-dimensional perovskites with transition metal dichalcogenides has shown potential for hybrid opto-electronic devices. This study investigates the excitation transfer mechanism in TMD/2D perovskite heterostructures, and finds that charge transfer can occur from TMDs to 2D perovskites, while electron transfer is blocked, resulting in the formation of interlayer excitons. Additionally, it is shown that the energy transfer mechanism can be activated by aligning excitonic states.

Photoinduced Halide Segregation in Ruddlesden-Popper 2D Mixed Halide Perovskite Films

Junsang Cho et al.

Summary: 2D lead halide perovskites with tunable bandgap and enhanced chemical stability are useful for designing optoelectronic devices. Reducing dimensionality can increase resistance to light-induced ion migration, but also decreases the efficiency of halide ion segregation and segregation rate constant, leading to a decrease in charge-carrier lifetime.

Quantifying Anionic Diffusion in 2D Halide Perovskite Lateral Heterostructures

Shuchen Zhang et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively investigates in-plane thermally driven anionic inter-diffusion in a series of novel 2D and quasi-2D halide perovskites lateral heterostructures, revealing that bulky pi-conjugated organic cations inhibit Br-I inter-diffusion and halide diffusion is faster in quasi-2D structures compared to 2D structures. Molecular dynamics simulations provide insights into mechanisms for suppressing diffusion.

Layer-by-layer anionic diffusion in two-dimensional halide perovskite vertical heterostructures

Akriti et al.

Summary: The use of two-dimensional halide perovskites improves chemical stability and suppresses anionic diffusion in solid-state devices, leading to enhanced device performance. However, the role of organic cations in inhibiting anionic diffusion is not yet fully understood. Our quantitative investigation of anionic interdiffusion in atomically flat 2D vertical heterojunctions reveals a 'quantized' layer-by-layer diffusion model that provides important insights into the mechanism of anionic diffusion in 2D perovskites.

Halide Segregation in Mixed-Halide Perovskites: Influence of A-Site Cations

MAPb(Br0.5I0.5)(3) shows low-barrier ionic pathways that enhance stability against halide segregation, while FA(0.83)Cs(0.17)Pb(Br0.4I0.6)(3) lacks such pathways and undergoes considerable ionic rearrangement under prolonged illumination.
