Monocyte/Lymphocyte Ratio and MCHC as Predictors of Collateral Carotid Artery Disease-Preliminary Report

Tomasz Urbanowicz et al.

Summary: The study found significant differences in monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) between patients with one or two carotid diseases. MLR above 0.3 and MCHC above 21.6 were identified as predictive values for collateral carotid stenosis, indicating their potential use as easily accessible indicators for assessing atherosclerosis severity.

Bortezomib for treatment-refractory autoimmune haemolytic anaemia following multivisceral transplantation

Darren Wong et al.

Summary: A 25-year-old man developed delayed onset warm autoimmune haemolytic anaemia and neutropaenia after receiving alemtuzumab induction therapy for a multivisceral transplant. Despite refractory haemolysis to standard therapies, including corticosteroids, intravenous immunoglobulin, and rituximab, the patient was successfully treated with bortezomib, a proteasome inhibitor, and continues to remain well as an outpatient without ongoing evidence of haemolysis.
