Hydrogel with high toughness and strength for fabricating high performance stab-resistant aramid composite fabric

Xiayun Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new high-performance and flexibility stab-resistant composite material was prepared by combining a high-toughness and high-strength hydrogel with aramid fabric. Adding nano-silica can improve the toughness and strength of the hydrogel, which in turn enhances the stab resistance performance of the composite material.

Poly(vinyl alcohol) Hydrogels with Integrated Toughness, Conductivity, and Freezing Tolerance Based on Ionic Liquid/Water Binary Solvent Systems

Yizhuo Liu et al.

Summary: Ionic conductive hydrogels prepared using a water-miscible ionic liquid show significant anti-freezing and water-retaining properties, remaining flexible and conductive even in extreme conditions. The addition of Mg(II) ions can improve the thermal stability of the hydrogel, and a multimodal sensor based on this hydrogel exhibits high sensitivity and a wide working temperature range to pressure, strain, and temperature changes.

An Antifreezing, Tough, Rehydratable, and Thermoplastic Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Sodium Alginate/Poly(ethylene glycol) Organohydrogel Electrolyte for Flexible Supercapacitors

Oudong Hu et al.

Summary: A hydrogel electrolyte with good flexibility and strong ion transport ability is ideal for flexible energy storage equipment. However, traditional hydrogel electrolytes have limitations such as being unable to be reshaped after forming and reused after dehydration. The new PVA/SA/PEG organohydrogel electrolyte shows great potential with improved recyclability, self-healing ability, and low-temperature resistance, making it a promising candidate for next-generation flexible energy storage devices.

Highly tough, freezing-tolerant, healable and thermoplastic starch/poly(vinyl alcohol) organohydrogels for flexible electronic devices

Jing Lu et al.

Summary: Starch-based hydrogels have gained attention due to their biodegradability, but they often lack toughness, brittleness, and anti-freezing properties. By introducing glycerol and CaCl2, the mechanical, thermal, and conductive properties of the starch/PVA hydrogel can be improved, resulting in enhanced compatibility, flexibility, anti-freezing ability, and long-term stability.
