Genomic Analysis of the Glutathione S-Transferase Family in Pear (Pyrus communis) and Functional Identification of PcGST57 in Anthocyanin Accumulation

Bo Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a total of 57 PcGST genes involved in anthocyanin accumulation in pear peels were identified through genomic analysis. Glutamic acid was found to significantly improve anthocyanin accumulation, with PcGST57 being the most significantly induced gene. Further experiments showed that overexpression of PcGST57 increased anthocyanin accumulation, while silencing of PcGST57 reduced anthocyanin content. These findings provide candidate genes for red pear breeding.

Genome-Wide Identification of Glutathione S-Transferase and Expression Analysis in Response to Anthocyanin Transport in the Flesh of the New Teinturier Grape Germplasm 'Zhongshan-HongYu'

Hui Li et al.

Summary: This study analyzed and characterized the GST gene family in the flesh of 'Zhongshan-HongYu' grapes. The results showed that these genes were unevenly distributed on most chromosomes of the grapes and were divided into 9 subfamilies through phylogenetic analysis. Transcriptome sequencing analysis identified 18 GST genes, and their expression levels were found to be non-tissue-specific. The study also found a close relationship between VvGST4 and two other genes, providing a foundation for further research on the GST gene family.

Identification and Comprehensive Ggenome-Wide Analysis of Glutathione S-Transferase Gene Family in Sweet Cherry (Prunus avium) and Their Expression Profiling Reveals a Likely Role in Anthocyanin Accumulation

Irfan Ali Sabir et al.

Summary: In this study, 67 GST genes were identified in the sweet cherry genome, classified into seven chief subfamilies according to phylogenetic tree analysis. Most PavGST genes showed relatively well-maintained exon-intron and motif arrangement within the same group, as revealed by gene structure and motif analyses. The findings provide a foundation for future research on LED-induced anthocyanin and antioxidants accumulation in sweet cherries.

CsGSTU8, a Glutathione S-Transferase From Camellia sinensis, Is Regulated by CsWRKY48 and Plays a Positive Role in Drought Tolerance

Yongheng Zhang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that in tea plants, the CsGSTU8 gene is upregulated in response to drought stress and ABA treatment, playing a critical role in enhancing drought tolerance. It also reveals that CsWRKY48 functions as a transcriptional activator and activates the expression of CsGSTU8, providing new insights into drought stress responses in tea plants.

Genome-Wide Analysis of the Glutathione S-Transferase (GST) Genes and Functional Identification of MdGSTU12 Reveals the Involvement in the Regulation of Anthocyanin Accumulation in Apple

Yu-Wen Zhao et al.

Summary: Anthocyanins play vital biological roles in plant growth and development, with GSTs being essential for their transportation. The study identified 38 GST genes in the apple genome and found 32 orthologous gene pairs between apple and Arabidopsis. MdGSTU12 was significantly correlated with anthocyanin variation in apple, indicating its importance in anthocyanin accumulation.

Abscisic acid and putrescine synergistically regulate the cold tolerance of melon seedlings

Meng Li et al.

Summary: The study found that under cold stress, the levels of ABA and putrescine in melon seedlings increase, enhancing cold tolerance. ABA and putrescine may regulate each other's synthesis, triggering the antioxidant system and reducing membrane lipid peroxidation damage.

Identification of Glutathione S-Transferase Genes in Hami Melon (Cucumis melo var. saccharinus) and Their Expression Analysis Under Cold Stress

Wen Song et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the characterization of the Hami melon GST gene family, finding that cold-tolerant Jia Shi-310 variety had higher GST enzyme activities and expression levels of stress-related genes under cold stress. Some CmGSTs playing significant roles under cold stress could be regarded as candidate genes for further studies.
