Covalent organic frameworks with high quantum efficiency in sacrificial photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Chunzhi Li et al.

Summary: While organic semiconductors offer a tunable platform for photocatalysis, their performance is often worse compared to inorganic semiconductors. In this study, the incorporation of a donor-acceptor pair into a covalent organic framework significantly prolongs the charge carrier lifetime and enhances the photocatalytic H-2 evolution performance with a platinum co-catalyst.

Cocatalyst decorated ZnIn2S4 composites for cooperative alcohol conversion and H2 evolution

Chang-Long Tan et al.

Summary: A facile method was reported for the photodriven conversion of biomass-derived platform chemicals by decorating ZnIn2S4 with sulfide-based cocatalysts. The optimal MoS2-ZIS composites showed significantly improved performance in the photoredox reaction, suggesting promising applications in efficient valorization of biomass-derived platform chemicals.

M/TiO2 (M = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) catalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen production under UV and visible light irradiation

L. Diaz et al.

Summary: Low-cost M/TiO2 semiconductor catalysts were prepared by impregnating five different first row transition metals on a commercial titania support, with Cu/TiO2 showing the best photocatalytic activity for hydrogen production under both UV and visible light. Ni/TiO2 and Co/TiO2 also exhibited significant photocatalytic activity under UV light. The Cu/TiO2 catalyst was characterized by TEM and XPS measurements, showing the dispersion of copper species on TiO2 and the oxidation-reduction process during the hydrogen production reaction. Impregnated TiO2 showed higher H-2 production rates compared to non-impregnated TiO2, making Cu/TiO2 a cost-effective alternative to Pt/TiO2 for hydrogen production.
