Interior-collapsing mechanism by hydrothermal process of the MgAl2O4/MgO porous ceramic

Yao Yao et al.

Summary: The hydration process of MgO embedded in the ceramic was investigated, revealing that the hydration percentage was related to water solubility and the reaction advanced in a specific direction. The pressure exerted by MgO grains induced the collapse of the ceramic during hydration, without any bulk expansion. Therefore, the removal of the ceramic core would not damage the alloy blade, and decreasing the MgO grain size was predicted to enhance water solubility.

Statistical Piezotronic Effect in Nanocrystal Bulk by Anisotropic Geometry Control

Shuhai Liu et al.

Summary: The statistical piezotronic effect was reported in ZnO bulk, showing that strain-induced piezo-potential at crystal interfaces can effectively control electrical transport. The crystal orientation of inner ZnO nanoplatelets strongly influences ZnO bulk's transport properties and conductivity can be increased with optimum nanoplatelet orientation under high pressure.
