The autonomic aspects of the post-COVID19 syndrome

Arad Dotan et al.

Summary: The SARS-CoV-2 outbreak has led to the widespread COVID-19 pandemic and has been found to possess autoimmune properties. Some recovered COVID-19 patients experience post-COVID-19 syndrome, which may be related to autoimmune-mediated autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Treatment options include immunomodulatory therapy and exercise therapy.

Autoantibodies to Vasoregulative G-Protein-Coupled Receptors Correlate with Symptom Severity, Autonomic Dysfunction and Disability in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Helma Freitag et al.

Summary: The study found that levels of specific AAB were significantly correlated with fatigue and muscle pain symptoms in patients with infection-triggered ME/CFS, while patients with non-infection-triggered ME/CFS showed fewer correlations. This suggests a potential role of AAB or respective receptor pathways in the pathomechanism of the disease.

Salivary DNA Loads for Human Herpesviruses 6 and 7 Are Correlated With Disease Phenotype in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Ji-Sook Lee et al.

Summary: ME/CFS is a complex chronic condition with possible links to herpes virus reactivation, with higher viral loads of HHV-6B and HHV-7 found in patients compared to healthy individuals.
