3D porous Ca-modified Mg-Zr mixed metal oxide for fluoride adsorption

Xinyuan Wang et al.

Summary: This study successfully utilized Ca-Modified Mg-Zr Mixed Metal Oxides (CCMZ) prepared by a green hydrothermal process and high-temperature calcination for fluoride adsorption. The 3D porous structure of CCMZ significantly enhanced fluoride migration and diffusion, showing good selectivity and reusability. The fluoride adsorption mechanism of CCMZ involved electrostatic attraction and ion exchange mechanism, providing a rational design and a simple preparation method for a new class of fluoride adsorbents.

Adsorption property of fluoride in water by metal organic framework: Optimization of the process by response surface methodology technique

Yiqiong Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, three types of metal-organic frameworks adsorbents were used to remove fluoride from wastewater, and the adsorption conditions were optimized. Among them, aluminum metal-organic frameworks showed the best adsorption performance. The study also revealed that pH was the most important factor influencing fluoride removal by one of the metal-organic frameworks.

The simple synthesis of metal organic frameworks with high fluoride adsorption performance from water

Liwei Zhu et al.

Summary: Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are proven to be a safe, effective, and environmentally friendly method for removing excess fluoride from water. The synthesis of zirconium-based MOFs and their successful application in real water samples showed significant adsorption performance over a wide range of pH. This approach has great potential for fluoride removal in water treatment.

Enhanced stability of hydroxyapatite/sodium alginate nanocomposite for effective fluoride adsorption

Saranya Sekar et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a composite material of hydroxyapatite and sodium alginate, and determined its adsorption capacity for fluoride ions through adsorption experiments. The results showed that the fluoride ion adsorption capacity of the HAp/SA4 composite material was 92% higher than that of the reported HAp-sodium alginate compound. At pH 7, the maximum fluoride adsorption capacity of HAp/SA4 was 50 mg/g, and it maintained a recycling efficiency of 96% for five consecutive cycles.

Fluoride removal from water using alumina and aluminum-based composites: A comprehensive review of progress

Sikpaam Issaka Alhassan et al.

Summary: Fluoride concentration in drinking water has global health implications, with over 200 million people drinking fluorinated water. The use of alumina and aluminum-based composites for fluoride removal through the adsorption method is ideal due to its low cost, availability of adsorbents, pollution-free treated water, and environmental friendliness. The adsorbents can easily form aluminumfluoro complexes (AlFx) for enhanced adsorption at near-neutral pH, making them the most suitable for removing fluoride.

The adsorption of fluoride from aqueous solutions by Fe, Mn, and Fe/Mn modified natural clinoptilolite and optimization using response surface methodology

Meltem Bilici Baskan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that modified clinoptilolite has good fluoride adsorption performance for removing fluoride from aqueous solutions. Fluoride adsorption on iron-modified clinoptilolite is well described by the Freundlich isotherm and follows the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The percentage of fluoride removal depends not only on the adsorbent dose but also on the initial fluoride concentrations.

Room-temperature synthesis of MIL-100(Fe) and its adsorption performance for fluoride removal from water

Weifeng Li et al.

Summary: A novel strategy for room-temperature synthesis of MIL-100(Fe) using an organic amine as a deprotonating agent was proposed, and the resulting solid product, R-MIL-100(Fe), was characterized through various methods. The study found that R-MIL-100(Fe) had a high fluoride adsorption capacity, with the adsorption process belonging to surface adsorption and intraparticle diffusion. Additionally, R-MIL-100(Fe) exhibited excellent fluoride adsorption performance in a pH range of 4-10.

Highly efficient removal of As(III) by Fe-Mn-Ca composites with the synergistic effect of oxidation and adsorption

Chao Liu et al.

Summary: The synthesized Fe-Mn-Ca composites show excellent adsorption performance for high concentrations of As(III)-contaminated water, with the presence of a higher ratio of Ca component leading to larger specific surface area and better removal efficiency. EDTA-conjugated Fe-Mn-Ca composite adsorbents exhibit enhanced affinity for As(III) over As(V) in high ionic strength water. This promising adsorbent offers outstanding characteristics for treating high-concentration arsenic wastewater in practical industrial applications.
