An analysis of impact of personality traits and mindfulness on risk aversion of individual investors

Vesarach Aumeboonsuke et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes survey data from 100 Thai respondents to study the impact of personality traits and mindfulness on individual risk aversion. The results show that agreeable people are less mindful, while individuals with conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness tend to be more mindful. The analysis also reveals that agreeableness and emotional stability are associated with lower risk aversion, while conscientiousness and openness are associated with higher risk aversion. Furthermore, individuals who are more mindful tend to be more risk averse. Mindfulness also plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between personality traits and risk aversion. Age and gender are found to be related to risk aversion, with older people and women being more risk averse, while men and married individuals show lower levels of risk aversion. Education and income, however, do not have a significant impact on individual risk aversion.

The importance of staying positive: The impact of emotions on attitude to risk

Chris Brooks et al.

Summary: This article examines the impact of emotions towards financial investments and life in general on attitudes towards financial risk among UK-based investors. The study reveals that positive emotions have a more significant influence on risk tolerance than negative emotions, contrary to previous findings. Emotions towards investments are found to have greater explanatory power for risk aversion than demographic and financial factors. The research highlights the importance of emotional resilience in financial decision-making and provides implications for regulators, financial advisors, and educators.

Cross-Modal Sentiment Sensing with Visual-Augmented Representation and Diverse Decision Fusion

Sun Zhang et al.

Summary: This article introduces a hybrid fusion network approach for multimodal sentiment analysis. The article proposes a multi-head visual attention and decision fusion method to capture inter-modal and intra-modal features, and employs a similarity loss to improve the generalization capacity of the model. Experimental results demonstrate that this approach achieves higher accuracy and better generalization capacity on multiple datasets.

A novel artificial autonomous system for supporting investment decisions using a Big Five model approach

Daniel Cabrera-Paniagua et al.

Summary: This paper presents the design of an artificial autonomous system (AAS) for the stock market domain that considers an approximation from the Big Five model, adjusting investment decisions based on market conditions and individual personality profiles. The effectiveness of the investment process is measured by observing variations in accumulated wealth and utility, showing that personality traits play a significant role in investor well-being.

The impact of personality traits on attitude to financial risk

Chris Brooks et al.

Summary: Personality traits play a more significant role than emotions in determining attitudes towards investment risk, with the 'Big Five' framework insufficient to adequately characterize this relationship. Factors such as financial self-efficacy, resilience, and trait anger also have significant roles in shaping financial risk tolerance. Therefore, appropriate training and support for individuals making financial decisions could lead to improved outcomes in the long term.
