Retreatability of calcium silicate-based root canal sealer using reciprocating instrumentation with different irrigation activation techniques in single-rooted canals

Daniele Angerame et al.

Summary: This study compared the cleaning ability of two chemo-mechanical systems on vital and restored bioceramic sealers, finding that the Reciproc/SWEEPS technique performed better in intact teeth. The pre-endodontic restoration did not significantly impact the effectiveness of sealer removal.

Comparison of the efficacy of three different supplementary cleaning protocols in root-filled teeth with a bioceramic sealer after retreatment-a micro-computed tomographic study

Chanakarn Sinsareekul et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of three different supplementary cleaning protocols on removing bioceramic-based root canal filling materials from oval-shaped canals, finding that XP-endo Finisher R and passive ultrasonic irrigation were more effective in removal compared to conventional syringe irrigation. However, none of the techniques completely removed the filling materials from the canals.

The Retrievability of Calcium Silicate-Based Sealer during Retreatment and the Effectiveness of Additional Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation: A Microcomputed Tomographic Study

TaeYeon Lee et al.

Summary: This study investigated the retreatability of EndoSeal MTA using micro-CT imaging. The results showed that the presence or absence of a canal isthmus did not affect the filling efficacy of EndoSeal MTA, and a higher amount of remaining filling material was observed in apical lesions. Additionally, the use of passive ultrasonic irrigation improved the efficacy of removal.

Long-term porosity and retreatability of oval-shaped canals obturated using two different methods with a novel tricalcium silicate sealer

Wenjuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The efficiency of retreatment in oval-shaped canals using a tricalcium silicate sealer is closely related to storage time rather than filling technique. The XPFR instrument is effective in removing remaining materials from oval-shaped canals.

Summary: This study compared the impact of different reciprocating angles on the retreatment performance of reciprocating systems, showing that lower counterclockwise reciprocating angles can improve retreatment ability, especially for the WOG system, and reduce the time required for retreatment procedures.

Summary: The study found that ultrasonic activation and high flow rate significantly increased the removal of biofilm from the artificial lateral canal, while no significant differences were found between the groups for biofilm removal from the artificial isthmus. RISA and NaOCl exhibited the greatest anti-biofilm efficacy in decontaminating infected dentinal tubules.

Summary: The study found that the use of XP-Endo Finisher R significantly contributes to the removal of root canal filling materials, and it is superior to other irrigant activation techniques. The supplementary use of XP-Endo Finisher and XP-Endo Finisher R is beneficial in further removal of root canal filling materials.

Summary: The study compared disinfection and shaping abilities of two preparation protocols in C-shaped canals. The XP-endo Shaper and BioRaCe systems showed similar efficacy in shaping and disinfection. However, supplementary steps with the Hedstrom file and XP-endo Finisher were not sufficient to completely eliminate bacteria, with about half of the cases still harboring detectable amounts of bacteria in both groups.
