Real-world emissions of construction mobile machines and comparison to a non-road emission model

Ran Tu et al.

Summary: The study found that the working mode produces the highest emissions, while the idling mode has the least variation in emissions; the emission factors suggested by the Guide are generally lower than the measured values, especially for older machines; there is a significant increase in emission factors from Stage I to Stage II machines, and machine deterioration also affects emissions.

Analysis of Telematics Data of Combine Harvesters and Evaluation of Potential to Reduce Environmental Pollution

Dainius Savickas et al.

Summary: The study analyzed telematics data of combine harvesters, finding that CH spent around 18% and 13% of the time in idle and transport modes respectively, and consumed approximately 12% of diesel fuel outside of direct harvesting mode, emitting 4.7 t year(-1) of GWP per machine. Field tests confirmed that optimizing the use of CH in idle and transport modes could reduce annual GWP emissions by about 1.3 t per machine. Additionally, it was determined that the driving speed of the CH during wheat harvesting significantly impacted the GWP per ton of wheat harvested, with an optimal speed of 4 km h(-1) and a wheat grain and straw feed rate of 24 kg s(-1).
