A Transceiver ASIC for a Single-Cable 64-Element Intra-Vascular Ultrasound Probe

Douwe M. van Willigen et al.

Summary: This article introduces an ASIC designed for intra-vascular ultrasound imaging that enables 3D imaging by connecting 64 piezoelectric transducer elements to an imaging system. The ASIC can transmit acoustic waves in response to HV pulses generated by the imaging system and consumes low power during reception.

A design methodology for programmable-gain low-noise TIA in CMOS

Agata Romanova et al.

Summary: The work presents a design of an area-efficient inductor-less low-noise CMOS transimpedance amplifier suitable for entry-level optical time-domain reflectometers. It introduces a novel approach for implementing a programmable-gain in capacitive feedback TIA and addresses noise issues, while proposing a more accurate amplifier model taking into account capacitive isolation effects and biasing circuits. Further modifications to the reference design are suggested including the PMOS-based implementation of the biasing circuit to address voltage headroom issue.
