Impacts of MgO waste:GGBS formulations on the performance of a stabilised natural high sulphate bearing soil

Blessing Oluwaseun Adeleke et al.

Summary: This study developed an alternative cementitious binder using industrial wastes to suppress swelling in high sulphate bearing soils, showing promising engineering applicability. Results suggest that using 30% MgO-waste with GGBS can successfully control expansion in the soil, compared to the significant expansion observed in the control group.

Effects of curing environment and period on performance of lime-GGBS-treated gypseous soil

Wentao Li et al.

Summary: Gypseous soils pose a threat to transportation infrastructure, but lime-activated GGBS can effectively treat these soils. This study investigated the performance of lime-GGBS-treated gypseous soils under different curing environments and periods, and provided recommendations for field applications.

Incorporation of a nanotechnology-based product in cementitious binders for sustainable mitigation of sulphate-induced heaving of stabilised soils

Eyo U. Eyo et al.

Summary: The study focuses on reducing sulphate-induced heaving in soils by partially substituting cement (CEM I) with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and incorporating marginal quantities of RoadCem (RC) additive. Results showed a 67% reduction in heave when 1% of RC was added to the cementitious mix, and an increase in unsoaked strength of stabilised soil with RC inclusion.

Engineering properties of expansive soil stabilized by physically amended titanium gypsum

Fusheng Zha et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of titanium gypsum to stabilize expansive soils, showing improvements in engineering properties and mechanisms through physical modification. The evaluation of stabilized soil properties on both macroscopic and microscopic scales revealed enhanced strength characteristics and soil densification. Results suggest that titanium gypsum has potential as a stabilizer for expansive soils, meeting Chinese subgrade standards.

Data on one-dimensional vertical free swelling potential of soils and related soil properties

E. U. Eyo et al.

Summary: The text discusses the damaging geo-hazards caused by soil swelling, highlighting the importance of proper evaluation of soil swelling capacity for civil infrastructures. It also presents the methods used for measuring soil swelling, including laboratory oedometer testing and testing standards from ASTM and AASHTO. The dataset includes various soil properties and compaction states, aimed at aiding geotechnical engineers and researchers in statistical correlation studies and predictive modeling.
