Enhancing engagement beyond the conference walls: analysis of Twitter use at #ICPIC2019 infection prevention and control conference

Romain Martischang et al.

Summary: Through analyzing Twitter users who posted with the #ICPIC2019 hashtag during the ICPIC 2019 conference, we found that there was a diverse range of professional backgrounds among tweet authors and followers, including healthcare workers, industry representatives, and academic researchers. On average, around 23% of followers belonged to the same categories as authors. While network analysis supported the similarities between tweet authors and followers, we also observed that non-healthcare workers (including patients) seemed to have more diverse followers.
