Moreover, it efficiently degraded different types of phthalate esters (PAEs) and reduced DEHP contamination in soil.

A Streptomyces rhizobacterium with antifungal properties against spadix rot in flamingo flowers

Summary: Actinobacteria, specifically Streptomyces angustmyceticus strain TH23-7, showed significant antifungal activity against Lasiodiplodia theobromae, the pathogen causing spadix rot in flamingo flowers. Biological control of potato late blight by Streptomyces sp. FXP04 and potential role of secondary metabolites

FXP04 obtained from the rhizosphere soil of potato plants showed significant inhibition against the mycelial growth of Phytophthora infestans, the pathogen causing potato late blight. The genome sequencing of Streptomyces sp. FXP04 identified 15 gene clusters responsible for the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, including the antimicrobial compound Piericidin A. Metabolomic analysis confirmed the presence of Piericidin A, which was shown to inhibit the growth of P. infestans. These findings suggest that Streptomyces sp. FXP04 could be a potential biocontrol agent for potato late blight, with Piericidin A as the key antimicrobial secondary metabolite.

Summary: The study evaluated the LPMO activity of actinomycete S2 strain by measuring the release of xylose as reducing sugar and hydrogen peroxide during lignocellulosic biodegradation. Supplementation of ascorbic acid and Cu2+ significantly increased the production of reducing sugar and H2O2, showing a synergistic effect with other lignocellulose-degrading enzymes. This is the first elucidation of LPMO activity from an indigenous Indonesian actinomycete.
