The study of oxygen reduction reaction on Ge-doped MoS2 monolayer based on first principle

Jianyu Xiao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential application of Ge-doped molybdenum disulfide as an ORR electrocatalyst using first principle calculations. The results showed that Ge-doped MoS2 monolayer has strong oxygen adsorption capability, and the triple Ge atoms-doped MoS2 monolayer exhibited the best ORR activity with a low rate-determine step barrier. The study may provide a meaningful method for the design of novel electrocatalysts based on MoS2 for ORR.

Theory prediction of PC3 monolayer as a promising anode material in potassium-ion batteries

Xiaopeng Guan et al.

Summary: In this study, a potential anode material, PC3 monolayer, was investigated for potassium-ion batteries. The results showed that the PC3 monolayer became stiff and conductive after adsorption of potassium atoms, with low migration energy and high charge/discharge rate. The KIBs with PC3 monolayer anode exhibited high capacity and low open-circuit voltage, indicating a promising material selection for potassium battery anodes.

Summary: This study demonstrates the n-type conductivity suppressing property of tellurium (Te)-doped multilayer MoS2 films, and improved device performance through doping p-type MoS2 transistors with back-gate structure and high-K dielectric gate insulators. The enhancements are attributed to the charge screening effect associated with high-K dielectrics and low Schottky barrier height.

Pentagonal B2C monolayer with extremely high theoretical capacity for Li-/Na-ion batteries

Zishuang Cheng et al.

Summary: Recent research has identified a new two-dimensional material, Penta-B2C, with higher theoretical capacity and stability for Li-/Na-ion batteries compared to Penta-graphene. Penta-B2C exhibits metallic conductivity and can stably adsorb Li/Na atoms, providing potential for use as an excellent anode material. Its exceptional theoretical capacities and low diffusion barrier for ions suggest that Penta-B2C could be a promising candidate for high-performance Li-/Na-ion batteries.
