Mechanical Acceleration and Control of the Thermal Motion of a Magnetic Skyrmion

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the effect of mechanical strain on the motion of magnetic skyrmions in a temperature gradient using a phase-field model. The results show that strain-induced anisotropic deformation increases the driving force and accelerates the motion of skyrmions. A kinematic equation is proposed to describe the relationship between skyrmion velocity and multiphysics field variables. The potential application of mechanically controlled skyrmion thermal motion is also demonstrated.

The rectilinear motion of the individual asymmetrical skyrmion driven by temperature gradients

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the rectilinear motion of individual skyrmions in temperature gradients using a temperature-related phase field model and reveals that the energy imbalance induced by temperature gradients drives the motion of skyrmions. A kinematic equation is proposed to describe the motion of skyrmions in temperature gradients.

Chiral Emission of Exchange Spin Waves by Magnetic Skyrmions

Jilei Chen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the chirally emitted short-wavelength exchange spin waves in a low damping magnetic insulating thin film under the presence of magnetic skyrmions. The chirality of spin waves is attributed to the chiral spin pumping effect, with potential applications in nanomagnonics.

The temperature-strain phase diagrams of ferromagnetic thin films under different magnetic fields

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: The study proposes a temperature-dependent real space phase field model to investigate stable topological magnetic structures in ferromagnetic thin films under different external conditions. It is found that tensile biaxial strain enhances the stability of skyrmions, while skyrmions can be stabilized under both tensile and compressive strains with uniaxial strain.

Skyrmion Dynamics at Finite Temperatures: Beyond Thiele's Equation

Markus Weissenhofer et al.

Summary: We demonstrate that the existing theory based on Thiele's equation is insufficient to describe the dynamics of skyrmions at finite temperatures and propose an extended equation of motion that takes into account the coupling of skyrmions to the magnonic heat bath. Our results suggest that magnon-induced friction dominates for finite temperatures and typical Gilbert damping values for thin films and multilayers.
