On bi-chromatic steady-state gravity waves with an arbitrary included angle

Xiaoyan Yang et al.

Summary: Based on the recent study by Yang et al., this research investigates two primary waves traveling with an arbitrary included angle by solving the water-wave equations as a nonlinear boundary-value problem. The homotopy analysis method is used to solve the problem of small denominators and singularity. It is found that as the acute angle between the two primary wave components becomes smaller, the wave energy slowly shifts from the primary wave components to the high-order wave components, and the increase in wave amplitude strengthens this energy transfer.

Transition to turbulence in quasi-two-dimensional MHD flow driven by lateral walls

Christopher J. Camobreco et al.

Summary: This work investigates the mechanisms underlying transitions to turbulence in a quasi-two-dimensional environment, finding that increasing magnetic field strength can isolate instabilities and allow for finite critical Reynolds numbers, while introducing antisymmetry drives the critical Reynolds number infinite. Numerical simulations indicate that achieving a subcritical bifurcation is difficult in practice, with only supercritical behavior observed.

Radiative MHD unsteady Casson fluid flow with heat source/sink through a vertical channel suspended in porous medium subject to generalized boundary conditions

Asifa et al.

Summary: Unsteady, incompressible flow of Casson fluid between two infinitely long upward heated walls nested in a porous medium is analyzed in this work. The study also investigates mass diffusion, heat transfer phenomena, and the effects of thermal radiation, magnetic field, and heat source/sink. Analytic and semi-analytic solutions are calculated for concentration, energy, and velocity equations, showing the impact of thermo-physical parameters on heat and mass transfer in the Casson fluid flow. Numerical computations of Sherwood number, Nusselt number, and skin friction are organized to investigate mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and shear stress, with observations on the acceleration of flow by porosity and buoyancy force, and the influence of Prandtl and Schmidt numbers on heat and mass transfer rates, and radiation parameter and Grashof number on minimizing shear stress.

Bejan's flow visualization of buoyancy-driven flow of a hydromagnetic Casson fluid from an isothermal wavy surface

Mahesh Kumar et al.

Summary: This study numerically investigates the buoyancy-driven flow of Casson fluid from a vertical wavy surface under the influence of a magnetic field and evaluates the transport of heat in the free convective regime. Results show that increasing the magnetic parameter leads to periodic deviations in isotherms, streamlines, and heatlines, indicating more efficient transfer of high heat energy in the convective regime.

Analytical solutions for the hydrogen atom in plasmas with electric, magnetic, and Aharonov-Bohm flux fields

Ling Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the combined effects of external electric, magnetic, and AB flux fields on two-dimensional hydrogen atom in Debye and quantum plasmas using the homotopy analysis method. The results show significant influence of the combined effects on quantum levels, with the external magnetic field playing a dominant role in the hydrogen atomic system and being stronger than individual effects.
