Microwave assisted hydrothermally synthesized cobalt doped zinc ferrites nanoparticles for the degradation of organic dyes and antimicrobial applications

J. F. Joe Sherin et al.

Summary: A novel photocatalyst based cobalt doped zinc ferrites nanoparticles (Co-ZnFe2O4 NPs) was prepared and characterized in this study. The results showed that the amorphous ferrites of the samples disappeared with increasing calcinations temperature, affecting the band gap energy and the intensity of photoluminescence peak. Cobalt substitution improved the saturation magnetization and antimicrobial activity of the samples.

Effect of 'Zn' substitution on structural, morphological, magnetic and optical properties of Co-Zn ferrite nanoparticles for ferrofluid application

Ekanath K. Kore et al.

Summary: The Co1-xZnxFe2O4 (Co-Zn) ferrite nanoparticles with varying zinc content were synthesized and characterized for their structural, morphological, compositional, magnetic, and optical properties. The results showed an increase in lattice constant and interplanar spacing due to zinc substitution. The nanoparticles exhibited almost spherical grains with narrow size distribution and showed hysteresis or superparamagnetic behavior depending on the cobalt content. The saturation magnetization decreased with increasing zinc concentration, and the Curie temperature decreased as well. By adjusting the zinc and cobalt content, nanoparticles with desired superparamagnetic behavior and Curie temperature can be obtained.
