Fabrication of a TiO2@Cu Core-Shell Nanorod Array as Coating for Titanium Substrate with Mechanical and Chemical Dual Antibacterial Property

Jinglin Zhang et al.

Summary: By modifying titanium, a TiO2@Cu core-shell nanorod coating with excellent antibacterial properties and biocompatibility was developed. The coating effectively killed bacteria on the surface of titanium through the dual sterilization mechanism of released Cu2+ and TiO2 nanorod array.

Summary: This study introduces the engineering of self-disinfecting surfaces using Titania (TiO2) nanocomposite antimicrobial coatings to tackle the spread of SARS-CoV-2, emphasizing on the disinfection efficiency, material composition, and enhanced antimicrobial properties on surfaces, dental and orthopaedic implants. Through evaluating the antimicrobial activity of TiO2 coatings and modifying them with other metals and non-metal materials, new strategies and methods have been proposed to combat the spread of pathogenic microorganisms.

Morpho-structural properties of ZnSe, TiO2-ZnSe materials and enzymatic activity of their bioinorganic hybrids with lysozyme

C. Anastasescu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the properties of bioinorganic catalysts obtained by adding TiO2 to spherical zinc selenide and subsequently modifying with lysozyme adsorption. The research showed that the addition of TiO2 leads to significant changes in surface composition, electrochemical behavior, and lysozyme retention capacity. The lysozyme-modified surfaces of ZnSe and TiO2-ZnSe doubled the efficiency of biocatalysts for the hydrolysis reaction compared to free lysozyme.
