3D silver metallized nanotrenches fabricated by nanoimprint lithography as flexible SERS detection platform

Alia Colnita et al.

Summary: In this study, highly sensitive substrates with potential as Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) detection platforms were developed using nanoimprint lithography nanotrenches in plastic and nanostructured silver (Ag) films. The contribution of the periodic Ag nanopattern in the SERS signal was found to be significant, with an enhancement factor (EF) of up to 107 for the SERS detection platform with a 25 nm Ag layer on top of the periodic nanotrenches. The substrate showed a considerably lower limit of detection (LOD) for SERS and better signal uniformity and reproducibility.

Laser-Empowered Random Metasurfaces for White Light Printed Image Multiplexing

Nathalie Destouches et al.

Summary: The technique of laser processing of nanocomposites allows for controlling the statistical properties of random metasurfaces, enabling multiplexing of multiple images. By manipulating absorption and interference effects, as well as the anisotropy of plasmonic nanoparticles, colors in reflection and transmission can be altered independently under white light, facilitating multiplexing of multiple images.

Direct fabrication of rotational femtosecond laser-induced periodic surface structure on a tilted stainless steel surface

Yi-Hsien Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) on a tilted stainless steel surface using both p and s-polarized laser beams. Different types of LIPSS were compared and the fabrication of one-dimensional rotational low spatial frequency LIPSS on a tilted surface was demonstrated. Additionally, changing the laser scanning strategy resulted in lightning-like structures and two-dimensional structures on the tilted surface.

Influence of thermal growth of Au nanoparticles in the coupling efficiency of Au/SiO2 nanocomposite grating coupler

Gang Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the thermal evolution of Au nanoparticles on the vertical coupling efficiency of a nanocomposite grating coupler. It was found that the coupling efficiency was affected by the thermal evolution of Au nanoparticles, increasing up to 800 degrees C and decreasing at higher temperatures. Theoretical calculations suggest that the change in coupling efficiency is closely related to the synergistic effect of scattering and variations in the volume fraction of Au nanoparticles due to thermal growth.

Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Structure as a Conductive and Transparent Layer for Energy and Optoelectronic Applications

Vikas Sharma et al.

Summary: The study utilized metal-embedded organic polymer multilayer structures without metal oxides as transparent conducting electrodes, manipulating the thickness of the silver film to achieve excellent transparency and conductivity. Depth XPS analysis revealed that the silver layer mostly remained in metallic form, with only a small amount oxidized, demonstrating the potential applicability of the investigated OIO structure.
