Heterointerface optimization in a covalent organic framework-on-MXene for high-performance capacitive deionization of oxygenated saline water

Shuaihua Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports a covalent organic framework (COF)-on-MXene heterostructure with heterointerface optimization for high-performance capacitive deionization (CDI) of natural (oxygenated) saline water. The heterostructure inherits the excellent properties of MXene and COF, exhibiting stable cycling performance and high salt adsorption capacity.

Novel corrosion-resistant behavior and mechanism of a biomimetic surface with switchable wettability on Mg alloy

Dongsong Wei et al.

Summary: A switchable surface between superhydrophobic surface (SHS) and slippery liquid-infused porous surface (SLIPS) has been designed on magnesium alloy to improve corrosion resistance and provide different water-repellent properties. The surface can be easily switched between SHS and SLIPS by alcohol washing and lubricant-infusion, exhibiting excellent anti-corrosion ability and promising a wide range of application prospects in metals such as anti-icing, drag reduction, and anti-fouling.

Reversible wettability switching of piezo-responsive nanostructured polymer fibers by electric field

Hazem Idriss et al.

Summary: This work describes the preparation of fibers array with electric field switchable wettability using the piezoelectric properties of PVDF and the chemical reactivity of PMMA. It was found that by varying the orientation of the electric field and using different substrates with different conductivity, the shape of the deionized water drop can be controlled effectively. Additionally, the polarity of water can be shifted by dissolving NaCl salt in different concentrations.
