Quercetin dietary supplement for the synthesis and stabilization of AgNPs in a neutral aqueous medium and their enhanced long-term antimicrobial activity

M. G. Pena-Juarez et al.

Summary: In this study, quercetin was used as a reducing and stabilizing agent to synthesize silver nanoparticles with long-term stability. The synthesized nanoparticles exhibited high antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli under neutral conditions, and this activity remained after 180 days. The success of stability is attributed to the ingredient present in the supplement.

Feasibility of quercetin dietary supplement as reducing and stabilizing agent: Green route of silver nanoparticles using a bioactive flavonoid

M. G. Pena-Juarez et al.

Summary: The study investigated the potential use of quercetin as a reducing and stabilizing agent in the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles from a dietary supplement. Results showed that spherical AgNPs with excellent stability and antimicrobial activity can be synthesized using the dietary supplement, attributed to the significant solubility provided by other ingredients.
