Effect of the spectral shape of ground motion records on the collapse fragility assessment of degrading SDOF systems

Amin Norouzi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the collapse capacity of SDOF systems and extracts collapse fragility curves at different probability levels, finding that structural degradation, ductility, and spectral shape parameters significantly affect collapse capacity, while the post-capping stiffness ratio and small levels of the P-Delta effect do not have a remarkable impact. Additionally, the collapse capacity of SDOF systems is more sensitive to records categorized based on SaRatio and N-p than those classified based on epsilon.

Energy-based dynamic parameter identification for Pasternak foundation model

Wang-Xi Zhang et al.

Summary: An energy-based model was proposed to predict the dynamic foundation coefficients of a Pasternak foundation-rigid plate system. By conducting dynamic tests and establishing a set of equations, the foundation coefficients and equivalent mass per unit area of vibrating soil can be directly identified. The feasibility of the method was verified and it can be applied more widely in engineering practice.
