Whole Resistome Analysis in Campylobacter jejuni and C. coli Genomes Available in Public Repositories

Summary: Campylobacter spp. is the most frequent agent of human gastroenteritis worldwide, and the current study presents the resistome analysis of different strains. Resistance to beta-lactams and tetracyclines are the most common, with quinolone resistance on C. jejuni and aminoglycoside resistance on C. coli also important. Geographic differences were found in clonal complexes distribution and resistome genotypes, with certain gene patterns associated with specific sources of isolation.
