Exploring the endocannabinoidome in genetically obese (ob/ob) and diabetic (db/db) mice: Links with inflammation and gut microbiota

Francesco Suriano et al.

Summary: The study revealed differential alterations in eCBome tone in the liver and adipose tissues between ob/ob and db/db mice, which may contribute to the impaired hepatic function and different inflammatory states observed in these two mouse models. Correlation studies suggested potential interactions with gut microbiota alterations in relation to the inflammatory phenotypes. The findings highlight the importance of bioactive lipids and eCBome molecules in maintaining tissue-dependent inflammatory states associated with obesity and diabetes.

A proposed modulatory role of the endocannabinoid system on adipose tissue metabolism and appetite in periparturient dairy cows

Madison N. Myers et al.

Summary: Periparturient dairy cows mobilize adipose tissue fatty acid stores through lipolysis to meet the nutrient demands of fetal growth, parturition, and milk synthesis. Activation of cannabinoid receptors by endocannabinoids can enhance adipogenesis and lipogenesis, suppress lipolysis, and increase appetite in mammals, suggesting a potential therapeutic target in improving dairy cows' health. Further research is needed to fully understand the effects of modulating the endocannabinoid system in periparturient dairy cows.

Endocannabinoid System and Its Regulation by Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Full Spectrum Hemp Oils

Slavko Komarnytsky et al.

Summary: The endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a critical role in modulating PUFA signaling for balanced inflammatory and oxidative states. Dietary interventions and full-spectrum hemp oils support ECS tone, improve metabolism, and reduce inflammation, with potential benefits for cardiovascular health and emotional well-being. Further research is needed to validate the effectiveness of dietary interventions in managing chronic metabolic and inflammatory disorders.

Proteomic analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells and inflammatory status in postpartum dairy cows supplemented with different sources of omega-3 fatty acids

Gitit Kra et al.

Summary: In transition dairy cows, dietary supplementation with n-3 fatty acids from flaxseed or fish oil altered the proteome of PBMC, with enrichment of acute-phase-response signaling and complement systems observed in the FLX group compared to CTL and FO groups. This information may provide insights into the mechanisms by which dietary omega-3 fatty acids affect the immune system in postpartum dairy cows.

Characterization of the liver proteome in dairy cows experiencing negative energy balance at early lactation

Turner H. Swartz et al.

Summary: Negative energy balance in early lactation dairy cows is associated with metabolic disorders, leading to altered liver proteome characterized by shifts in hepatic protein abundance involved in fatty acid uptake, impaired anti-inflammatory responses, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Differentially abundant proteins identified in this study may serve as potential biological markers for disease or targets for improving metabolic adaptations in postpartum dairy cattle.
