Regulation of small RNA-mediated high temperature stress responses in crop plants

Roshan Kumar Singh et al.

Summary: Small RNAs play a key role in regulating gene expression, especially in response to high temperature stress in plants. Micro RNAs and small interfering RNAs are the main types of small RNAs involved in gene silencing. By expressing artificial miRNAs, genetically engineered plants have shown enhanced thermotolerance, while sRNAs have also been reported to induce epigenetic changes on chromatin regions through RNA-dependent DNA methylation.

Genome-wide identification of PYL gene family in wheat: Evolution, expression and 3D structure analysis

Pengzheng Lei et al.

Summary: This study identified 38 wheat PYL genes through genome-search method, showing high conservation between wheat and its ancestors; Interaction network and miRNA target prediction revealed that TaPYLs could interact with important components of the ABA signaling pathway; RNA-seq analysis detected tissue-specific and stress-responsive TaPYLs, and QPCR analysis validated gene expression differences, laying the foundation for further research on functional development and stress tolerance improvement of PYL genes.

Integrating stomatal physiology and morphology: evolution of stomatal control and development of future crops

Matthew Haworth et al.

Summary: Stomata play a central role in the hydrological and carbon cycles, with their morphology and physiology affecting the mechanism of stomatal control. Variation in stomatal density among species influences the sensitivity of the stomatal density-[CO2] relationship, impacting the efficacy of inferring palaeo-atmospheric CO2 levels. The interactions between stomatal morphology and physiology are crucial in understanding plant evolutionary history and responses to climate change.

Genome-wide identification and comparative analysis of the WRKY gene family in aquatic plants and their response to abiotic stresses in giant duckweed (Spirodela polyrhiza)

Xuyao Zhao et al.

Summary: This study systematically analyzed WRKY genes in aquatic plants, revealing the characteristics and adaptation of this gene family in these plants. The high frequency of the regulatory element ARE in WRKY genes in aquatic plants indicates their adaptation to aquatic environments. Additionally, the WRKY gene family in aquatic plants experienced a series of gene loss events, especially in group III.
