Fecal Microbiota Transplant in a Pre-Clinical Model of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Obesity and Diabetic Kidney Disease

Rosana M. C. Bastos et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the benefits of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) on type 2 diabetes, obesity, and diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The findings showed that FMT prevented weight gain, reduced albuminuria and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) levels, and potentially improved insulin resistance. Intestinal integrity was maintained.

MiR-21-3p triggers cardiac fibroblasts pyroptosis in diabetic cardiac fibrosis via inhibiting androgen receptor

Peng Shi et al.

Summary: Our study demonstrated that miR-21-3p exacerbates STZ-induced diabetic cardiac fibrosis through the caspasel pathways by suppressing AR expression, leading to cardiac fibroblasts pyroptosis and collagen deposition.

Autophagy in the diabetic heart: A potential pharmacotherapeutic target in diabetic cardiomyopathy

Saikat Dewanjee et al.

Summary: Diabetes is clinically associated with a higher risk of cardiac failure, with diabetic cardiomyopathy being a common complication that results from myocardial infarction. The dysfunction of autophagy plays a crucial role in the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy, leading to impaired cellular homeostasis and potential pathogenic effects. Current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of autophagy regulation in diabetic cardiomyopathy and exploring pharmacotherapeutic strategies to target autophagy.

TMAO promotes apoptosis and oxidative stress of pancreatic acinar cells by mediating IRE1α-XBP-1 pathway

Guodong Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that TMAO reduced cell viability, promoted apoptosis, and induced oxidative stress in MPC-83 cells. The regulatory effects of TMAO on cells were mediated by the IRE1 alpha/XBP-1 signaling pathway. Resuce experiments further confirmed the potential diagnostic and therapeutic application of TMAO for hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis.
