Platelet ACKR3/CXCR7 favors antiplatelet lipids over an atherothrombotic lipidome and regulates thromboinflammation

Malgorzata Cebo et al.

Summary: Platelet ACKR3/CXCR7 surface expression is enhanced in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients, and it influences the prognosis. This study shows that ACKR3/CXCR7 regulates thromboinflammatory response by impacting the platelet lipidome. The findings suggest that ACKR3/CXCR7 may be a potential therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases and CAD.

On the biosynthesis of specialized pro-resolving mediators in human neutrophils and the influence of cell integrity

Malwina Mainka et al.

Summary: Neutrophils play a crucial role in the initiation and resolution of inflammation. Research has shown that human PMNL prefer the use of ARA for lipid mediator formation. Furthermore, when cellular integrity is compromised, there is an increase in the formation of certain lipid mediators.

The Effect and Mechanism of Lipoxin A4 on Neutrophil Function in LPS-Induced Lung Injury

Wen-Hao Pan et al.

Summary: LXA4 can protect ARDS rats by inhibiting the release of inflammatory factors and reducing lung injury, as well as suppressing the production of ROS and NETs by neutrophils, promoting their phagocytosis and apoptosis. The effect of LXA4 on neutrophil function is mediated by its receptor ALX.

Specialized Pro-Resolving Lipid Mediators: New Therapeutic Approaches for Vascular Remodeling

Lucia Serrano Diaz Del Campo et al.

Summary: Vascular remodeling is a typical feature of vascular diseases, and inflammation plays a key role in regulating this process. Specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) can modulate the function of vascular cells and protect against the development of vascular remodeling in cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, aneurysms, and restenosis.

Formation, Signaling and Occurrence of Specialized Pro-Resolving Lipid Mediators-What is the Evidence so far?

Nils Helge Schebb et al.

Summary: This paper critically evaluates the biosynthetic pathways of specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPMs), their receptors and signaling cascades, and the analytical methods used to quantify these mediators. It concludes that there is limited biosynthetic capacity for SPMs in human leukocytes, the identity and signaling of proposed SPM receptors need further validation, SPM levels are not related to dietary supplementation or resolution of inflammation, and the commonly reported methodology for quantification of SPMs is unreliable.

Effects of Arachidonic Acid and Its Metabolites on Functional Beta-Cell Mass

Karin J. Bosma et al.

Summary: Arachidonic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that plays roles in inflammation, pain, and immune function. Its metabolism through various pathways produces eicosanoids, which are associated with inflammatory, renal, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. Targeting the metabolism of arachidonic acid may provide new therapies for diabetes.

The Effect and Mechanism of Lipoxin A4 on Neutrophil Function in LPS-Induced Lung Injury

Wen-Hao Pan et al.

Summary: The study found that Lipoxin A4 (LXA4) has an important impact on the pulmonary inflammatory response and neutrophil function in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) rats. LXA4 can reduce lung injury and inhibit the release of pro-inflammatory factors in the lung tissue of ARDS rats. It can also inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species and neutrophil extracellular traps in peripheral blood neutrophils, while promoting neutrophil phagocytosis and apoptosis. Its effects on neutrophil function are mediated by its receptor ALX.

A Review of Prostanoid Receptors: Expression, Characterization, Regulation, and Mechanism of Action

Roger G. Biringer

Summary: Prostaglandin signaling plays a crucial role in regulating various biological processes, from blood pressure homeostasis to inflammation, pain perception, and cell survival. Disruption of normal prostanoid signaling is associated with numerous disease states and is facilitated by G-protein-coupled receptors and associated G-proteins. This review focuses on the expression, regulation, and mechanism of action of prostanoid receptors, particularly in human isoforms.

Prostanoids and Resolution of Inflammation - Beyond the Lipid-Mediator Class Switch

Summary: Bioactive lipid mediators, such as prostanoids and specialized pro-resolving mediators, play key roles in regulating inflammatory processes. Further research on the resolution-regulatory properties of prostanoids may have implications for anti-inflammatory therapeutic interventions targeting these lipid mediators.
