Compound surfactant-based emulsion method for the preparation of high-porosity alumina microspheres

Jiansen Zhao et al.

Summary: A new emulsion method using compound surfactants as template agents was developed for the preparation of high-porosity alumina microspheres, which involved the formation of lamellar structure through self-assembly and the transformation of alumina crystal at a high temperature. The compound surfactants increased the spheroidization rate and decreased the particle size after hydrolysis, and also changed the morphology, porosity, compressive stress, and specific surface area of the alumina microspheres.

Hydrodesulfurization of dibenzothiophene and 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene over NiMo supported on yolk-shell silica catalysts with adjustable shell thickness and yolk size

Ke Yu et al.

Summary: Mesoporous yolk-shell silica spheres with different shell thicknesses and yolk sizes were synthesized and used as catalyst supports for hydrodesulfurization reactions. The results showed that the shell thickness and yolk size significantly affect the catalytic activity, with the NiMo/Al-Y30S13 catalyst exhibiting the highest activity. Additionally, the mechanisms of DBT and 4,6-DMDBT HDS over NiMo/Al-YxSy materials were proposed.

R. Obeso-Estrella et al.

Summary: Mesoporous Al2O3-TiOx composites with different titania loadings were synthesized to evaluate the effect of non-stoichiometric TiOx phases on the hydrodesulfurization ability of CoMo/Al2O3-TiOx catalysts. The results showed that all sulfided CoMo Al2O3-TiOx catalysts were more active than CoMo/Al2O3 catalyst. The DBT HDS reaction mainly occurred through the direct desulfurization pathway.

Trimetallic NiMoW and CoMoW catalysts supported on SBA-15 modified with titania or zirconia for deep hydrodesulfurization

J. Arturo Mendoza-Nieto et al.

Summary: In this study, different SBA-15 supports with varying compositions were used to prepare trimetallic CoMoW and NiMoW catalysts for deep hydrodesulfurization reactions. The addition of titania and zirconia to the supports resulted in higher catalytic activity, particularly for the Ni-promoted samples. Among these catalysts, NiMoW/Zr-SBA-15 showed the highest activity for sulfur removal, with twice the activity compared to NiMoW/SBA-15 analog. The dispersion of metal species on the sulfided NiMoW/Zr-SBA-15 sample was identified as the key factor contributing to its superior activity. Additionally, catalyst selectivity was found to be more dependent on the promoter used rather than the support's chemical composition.
