Zinc salt-catalyzed reduction of α-aryl imino esters, diketones and phenylacetylenes with water as hydrogen source

Summary: The study successfully utilized zinc salt-catalyzed reduction with water as a hydrogen source and zinc as a reductant to provide a low-cost, environmentally friendly, and practical synthesis method for producing alpha-aryl amino esters, alpha-hydroxyketones, and phenylethylenes. The use of D2O as a deuterium source resulted in high efficiency products with excellent deuterium incorporation rate, offering a cost-effective and safe tool for accessing valuable deuterium-labeled compounds.
