Lymphovascular invasion has a significant prognostic impact in patients with early breast cancer, results from a large, national, multicenter, retrospective cohort study

G. Houvenaeghel et al.

Summary: The presence of lymphovascular invasion (LVI) has an independent negative prognostic impact on overall, disease-free, and metastasis-free survival in early breast cancer patients, except in ER-positive grade 3 tumors and in those with luminal A-like tumors treated with adjuvant chemotherapy. This suggests that LVI may indicate a subset of luminal A-like patients who could benefit from adjuvant therapy.

Lack of prognostic impact of sentinel node micro-metastases in endocrine receptor-positive early breast cancer: results from a large multicenter cohort

G. Houvenaeghel et al.

Summary: This retrospective study analyzed 13,773 ER-positive breast cancer patients treated in 13 French cancer centers, finding that lymph node micro-metastases do not have a significant prognostic impact and should not be considered when indicating adjuvant chemotherapy.
