Effect of Au substrate and coating on the lasing characteristics of GaAs nanowires

Gyanan Aman et al.

Summary: Optically pumped lasing has been demonstrated at room temperature from highly Zn-doped GaAs nanowires and Au-coated nanowires on an Au film substrate, achieving lasing through increased radiative efficiency and material gain. Detailed analysis using finite-difference time domain simulations reveals that lasing occurs from low loss hybrid modes with predominantly photonic character and electric field enhancement effects, opening new prospects for on-chip integration of nanolasers with innovative functionalities.

Managing Resonant and Nonresonant Lasing Modes in GaAs Nanowire Random Lasers

Mohammad Rashidi et al.

Summary: Random lasers in GaAs nanowires can lase in resonant and nonresonant modes, depending on whether the nanowires are randomly oriented or vertically aligned. Numerical simulations show that aligned nanowires increase scattering efficiency and favor resonant lasing. Suppressing resonant modes optically can be achieved by increasing the number of excited modes.

Controlling the lasing modes in random lasers operating in the Anderson localization regime

Mohammad Rashidi et al.

Summary: Random lasers are simpler and cost-effective to fabricate compared to traditional Fabry-Perot cavities. By changing the design parameters of the random InP nanowire arrays, the properties of the lasing modes can be controlled, including the number of modes, lasing wavelengths, and lasing threshold.

Stable, multi-mode lasing in the strong localization regime from InP random nanowire arrays at low temperature

Summary: Disorder is considered undesired in lasing action, but plays a critical role in random lasers. Mode localization can reduce spatial overlap between lasing modes to improve stability. High-quality-factor localized modes have been demonstrated in random nanowire lasers.
