Triple-Scale Superhydrophobic Surface with Excellent Anti-Icing and Icephobic Performance via Ultrafast Laser Hybrid Fabrication

Rui Pan et al.

Summary: A new triple-scale micro/nanostructured superhydrophobic surface designed via ultrafast laser ablation and chemical oxidation exhibits excellent anti-icing and icephobic properties, with low ice adhesion strength and outstanding resistance to high humidity. The surface structure combines periodical microcone arrays, densely grown nanograsses, and dispersedly distributed microflowers, providing good Cassie state stability and preventing ice and water accumulation effectively.

Anti-icing properties of femtosecond laser-induced nano and multiscale topographies

Anvesh Gaddam et al.

Summary: This study fabricated single-tier nano and two-tier multiscale topographies on stainless steel surfaces with one-step femtosecond laser processing, and investigated their anti-icing properties. The results showed that the superhydrophobic two-tier multiscale topography significantly delayed the droplet freezing time and surface frost formation.
