Modeling relationship between land surface temperature anomaly and environmental factors using GEE and Giovanni

Ali Akbar Jamali et al.

Summary: The study found that land surface temperature (LST) is increasing in various elevations, seasons, and land uses. The maximum value of LST anomalies during the day was observed in forests, mountains, and metropolises with the highest population growth rate. Positively trending LST was observed in forest and mountain land uses during summer and winter, while EVI showed positive trends in mountain and desert land uses across all seasons.

Machine Learning Algorithms for Modeling and Mapping of Groundwater Pollution Risk: A Study to Reach Water Security and Sustainable Development (Sdg) Goals in a Mediterranean Aquifer System

Safae Ijlil et al.

Summary: Groundwater pollution poses a severe threat to the environment and humanity, and mitigation strategies are urgently needed. A study in Morocco developed new hybrid/ensemble machine learning models to assess groundwater pollution. The results showed that these models outperformed individual machine learning algorithms.

Impact of Land Cover Changes on the Availability of Water Resources in the Regional Natural Park Serrania de Las Quinchas

Yuddy Alejandra Castro Ortegon et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of changes in land cover on the availability of water resources in the Serrania de Las Quinchas Regional Natural Park in Colombia. The results show that the declaration of the area as a protection zone led to changes in land cover, resulting in increased availability of water resources and partial restoration of the study area. Hydrological modeling was used to understand the behavior of the basin under different conditions. The findings provide valuable information for decision-makers to assess the best options for ensuring water resources and developing strategies that enable communities to adapt to ecosystem conditions without compromising ecological functioning.

Water Erosion Monitoring and Prediction in Response to the Effects of Climate Change Using RUSLE and SWAT Equations: Case of R'Dom Watershed in Morocco

Abdennabi Alitane et al.

Summary: This study quantifies and predicts soil erosion rates in the R'Dom watershed in Morocco using remote sensing and GIS tools. The results show that agricultural lands and bare lands are most affected by soil erosion, but the overall erosion rate is decreasing.

Assessment of the best management practices under a semi-arid basin using SWAT model (case of M'dez watershed, Morocco)

M'Hamed Boufala et al.

Summary: In Morocco, major development projects are being planned to address concerns over soil and water resources, with the use of the SWAT model to quantify water balance and soil erosion and evaluate BMPs. Results show that contour tillage is the most efficient option for reducing soil erosion and improving surface water resource conservation.

S. Er-Raki et al.

Summary: The main goal of the research was to evaluate the potential of the HYDRUS-1D model for estimating soil moisture, crop evapotranspiration, and deep percolation in irrigated winter wheat fields. The model simulations were found to accurately represent these parameters under different water management conditions.

Health and ecological risk assessment based on pesticide monitoring in Saiss plain (Morocco) groundwater

Imane Berni et al.

Summary: Groundwater contamination with pesticides in countries like Morocco poses risks to both ecology and human health. Monitoring revealed the presence of 27 pesticides, including carcinogens, in the groundwater. Further health and ecological risk assessment highlighted the need for measures to reduce the impact of pesticides on human and environmental health.
