Improved Exergy Evaluation of Ammonia-Water Absorption Refrigeration System Using Inverse Method

Adityabir Singh et al.

Summary: This study examines the compatibility of exergy destruction minimization (EDM) by simultaneously varying input operating temperatures for a 28 TR cooling load absorption system. It is found that the maxima of COP and ECOP, as well as the minima of overall exergy destruction, coincide at a common point. Using inverse optimization with the dragonfly algorithm, the same overall exergy destruction rate can be achieved for a wide range of generator temperatures below 155 degrees C.

New medium-low temperature hydrothermal geothermal district heating system based on distributed electric compression heat pumps and a centralized absorption heat transformer

Fangtian Sun et al.

Summary: The development of geothermal heat for district heating in China has attracted significant attention, with a new system proposed to address long-distance transportation issues. The system has a cost-effective main line length of about 10 km and shows improvements in annual coefficient of performance and annual product exergy efficiency. The centralized absorption heat transformer plays a key role in reducing irreversible loss and enhancing performance.

Thermoeconomic assessment of a geothermal based combined cooling, heating, and power system, integrated with a humidification-dehumidification desalination unit and an absorption heat transformer

Hamed Ghiasirad et al.

Summary: The study presents a novel multi-generation system utilizing 100% geothermal resource for power, cooling, heating, and desalination, evaluated from energy, exergy, and thermo-economic perspectives. The system achieves high heating/cooling potentials while reducing thermoeconomic indexes, with the highest amount of exergy destruction occurring in the absorption heat transformer and absorption chiller. Energy and exergy efficiencies show improvement with increasing ambient temperature and decreasing terminal temperature difference, leading to lower total system cost rate.

Comparative analysis on off-design performance of a novel parallel dual-pressure Kalina cycle for low-grade heat utilization

Shaoxiong Zheng et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel parallel dual-pressure Kalina cycle system for utilizing low-grade geothermal energy, comparing its performance with the basic Kalina cycle system under the same boundary conditions and investigating their performance under off-design conditions. The results reveal that the parallel dual-pressure Kalina cycle outperforms the basic Kalina cycle in terms of net power output and exergy efficiency, particularly showing better performance with higher geothermal energy mass flux and inlet temperature.
