Charging infrastructure planning for ride-sourcing electric vehicles considering drivers' value of time

Rakibul Alam et al.

Summary: In this study, an integer programming model was developed to optimize the allocation of charging stations and plugs in order to meet the charging demand of electric ride-sourcing services. Through numerical analysis and sensitivity analysis, it was found that charger types, fleet sizes, government incentives, and consideration of drivers' value of time have significant impacts on the optimal investment plans and system costs.

Ride-hailing app use for same-day delivery services of foods and groceries during the implementation of social activity restrictions in Indonesia

Muhammad Zudhy Irawan et al.

Summary: This study investigates the change in e-shopping behavior through ride-hailing applications during the pandemic, specifically for grocery and food delivery. The results suggest a complementary relationship between food and grocery delivery services, with an increase in food delivery leading to an increase in grocery delivery. Additionally, the study finds that pre-pandemic food delivery frequency significantly influences food and grocery deliveries during the pandemic. The findings also reveal that the use of ride-hailing apps for food and grocery delivery is influenced by different factors, such as e-shopping enjoyment and e-shopping benefits.

Factors influencing the intention to use electric cars in Brazil

Marina Buranelli de Oliveira et al.

Summary: This research investigates consumer intentions to use electric cars in Brazil and finds that attitudes towards electric cars and consumer emotions are the most significant predictors of intention to use. Despite concerns about pricing and charging infrastructure, respondents show a positive inclination towards using electric cars. These findings are crucial for discussions on electric cars in Brazil and for the development of policies and guidelines to promote their use.

The role of environmental awareness and knowledge in the choice of a seated electric scooter

Mariangela Scorrano et al.

Summary: This paper presents a study on the role of latent variables in choosing between a seated electric scooter and a conventional one. The main finding suggests that higher concern for the environment, particularly at the local level, positively influenced the choice of an electric scooter, while scooter knowledge did not play a statistically significant role.

Designing electric vehicle incentives to meet emission reduction targets

Yen-Chu Wu et al.

Summary: This study utilizes a mathematical model to optimize investment in charging infrastructure, aiming to promote the adoption of electric vehicles and reduce emissions. The findings suggest that rebates should be offered earlier than charging stations, availability of home charging affects consumer choices, and rebates are more effective for moderate drivers while charging stations should prioritize frequent drivers.

A choice experiment on preferences for electric and hybrid cars in Istanbul

Eren Inci et al.

Summary: This study analyzes households' preferences for electric and hybrid cars in Istanbul and evaluates the impact of urban policies. Using an adaptive choice-based conjoint approach, the research finds a low potential for electric cars but a significant latent demand for hybrid cars. Subsidizing parking for electric cars and bridge/tunnel crossing fees for hybrid cars is identified as the most effective policy measure.

Can shared E-scooters reduce CO2 emissions by substituting car trips in Germany?

Laura Gebhardt et al.

Summary: This paper explores the potential for replacing car trips with e-scooters in Germany and the resulting impact on greenhouse gas emissions. The analysis shows that 13% of daily car trips, equivalent to 2% of car kilometers in Germany, are suitable for substitution. The level of emissions reduction depends on factors such as e-scooter lifetime and the type of vehicle being replaced. The best-case scenario could achieve a daily reduction of approximately 5.8 kt of CO2eq by replacing trips with conventional cars with e-scooter travel, but replacing battery electric cars may lead to increased emissions under certain conditions.

A review of the socio-demographic characteristics affecting the demand for different car-sharing operational schemes

Ehsan Amirnazmiafshar et al.

Summary: This paper examines the socio-demographic factors influencing the demand for different forms of car-sharing and provides an in-depth review of such factors based on service type, geographic area, and specific travel demand aspects. The study highlights differences between car-sharing operational schemes and finds that free-floating members have a higher proportion of males, young individuals, and individuals with above-average income compared to other car-sharing services. The paper also suggests further research is needed to clarify the direction of causation between vehicle ownership levels and car-sharing demand.

The characteristics of the demand for electric scooters in Italy: An exploratory study

Mariangela Scorrano et al.

Summary: The study found that factors such as purchase price, fuel economy, annual taxation and insurance costs, driving range, engine power, country of manufacture, and the ability to remove the battery are statistically significant in influencing the choice between electric and petrol scooters in Italy. Despite government support, consumer preferences in Italy suggest that non-monetary factors and inadequate supply still limit the potential market share growth of electric scooters.
