Synthesis of a CoO-ZnO photocatalyst for enhanced visible-light assisted photodegradation of methylene blue

Muhammad Saeed et al.

Summary: In this research, Co-doped ZnO was synthesized by the precipitation method for enhanced visible-light assisted photodegradation of methylene blue. XRD and XPS analyses revealed that Co existed in a divalent state in the composite, and the incorporation of Co2+ greatly enhanced visible light absorption in the ZnO structure. Photodegradation of methylene blue was described using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism, showing significant degradation with different percentages of CoO-ZnO composites.

Development of Bi2O3-ZnO heterostructure for enhanced photodegradation of rhodamine B and reactive yellow dyes

Misbah Yasin et al.

Summary: This study reported an effective photocatalyst – the heterostructure of Bi2O3-ZnO, which was formed by coupling p-type Bi2O3 and n-type ZnO. The experimental results demonstrated that the incorporation of 5% Bi2O3 enhanced the photocatalytic activity of ZnO by about 15 times.
