Optimization of Transfer Quality Factor of Limited-Size Coils for Series-Series Compensated Inductive Power Transfer System

Peizhou Liu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a method for optimizing coils in a limited space to improve the transfer quality factor in a series-series compensated inductive power transfer system. It achieves high transfer quality factor by determining the optimal number of turns with equal turn spacing coil and optimizing the distance between adjacent turns. The results of finite element simulation and experimental measurement show that this method can achieve a higher transfer quality factor compared to the conventional method of winding coil with equal turn spacing. This method can be used to guide the optimal design of coils in a limited space.

Analysis of the Mutual Impedance of Coils Immersed in Water

Peizhou Liu et al.

Summary: This paper established a model of the mutual impedance of coils immersed in water, analyzing the effects of the conductivity of water, excitation frequency, and number of turns of the coils on mutual impedance, and comparing the variation of mutual impedance of coils in air and water with axial displacement. The models provided are helpful for analyzing coil coupling characteristics in the presence of conductive medium during the design process.

Robust Control of Wireless Power Transfer Despite Load and Data Communications Uncertainties

Reza Naghash et al.

Summary: This article discusses the robust control of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems using quantitative feedback theory (QFT) to design a feedback compensator and prefilter for shaping the system's frequency responses. The effectiveness of the QFT-based robust control methodology is evaluated through simulations and practical experiments and compared with other design methods. The small-signal transfer function modeling of WPT systems is also elaborated in this model-based approach.

Receiver Energy Efficiency and Transmission Latency Analysis of Outage-Constrained Differential PSK With a Finite Resolution ADC

Sherief Helwa et al.

Summary: In a power-constrained downlink communication scenario for IoT applications, the use of differential PSK modulation with finite-resolution ADC can significantly reduce receiver power consumption. By comparing the energy efficiency of differential PSK and coherent PSK systems under reliability and latency constraints, this study shows that differentially-modulated Alamouti transmissions to a single RF-chain IoT device with a low-resolution ADC offer an attractive choice in terms of receiver energy efficiency, reliability, and transmission latency.
