Jet timing

Wen Han Chiu et al.

Summary: This paper explores various possibilities in defining the time of a jet through the measurable arrival times of the jet constituents and finds that a definition of jet time based on a transverse momentum weighted sum of the times of the constituents has the best performance. These results highlight the critical importance of using a proper definition of jet time with its corresponding detector-dependent calibration and the exciting possibility of deepening our understanding of jets in the time domain.

Phenomenology of CP-even ALP

Kodai Sakurai et al.

Summary: In this paper, the collider phenomenology and cosmology of the CP-even ALP are studied, and a certain production mechanism for the ALP is proposed. In an appropriate parameter region, the CP-even ALP can be produced from the decay of the Higgs boson and can lead to various signals, such as Higgs exotic decays and Higgs decay to displaced vertex plus missing energy. Furthermore, when the mass is light, the CP-even ALP can also serve as a candidate for dark matter, and there are methods to probe the dark matter using 21cm line measurement and other observations.

Stitching Monte Carlo samples

Karl Ehataht et al.

Summary: Monte Carlo simulations are commonly used in modern high-energy physics experiments, but producing sufficient MC samples can be challenging due to computational limitations. This paper presents a method called stitching for combining overlapping MC samples, providing a solution to this problem.

Determining the lifetime of long-lived particles at the HL-LHC

Shankha Banerjee et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the capability of the Large Hadron Collider to determine the mean proper lifetime of long-lived particles with different decay final states, using model-dependent and model-independent methods. The discussion is developed in the context of high luminosity runs of the LHC and various upgrades for HL-LHC runs, concluding that lifetimes can be reconstructed in many specific cases. The inclusion of timing information in the Phase-II upgrade of CMS is also discussed as a potential improvement for such analysis.

Probing naturally light singlets with a displaced vertex trigger

Yuri Gershtein et al.

Summary: The research investigates the physics case for a dedicated trigger on a low mass, hadronic displaced vertex at the high luminosity LHC, relying on the CMS phase II track trigger. By estimating trigger efficiency and potentially reducing L1 trigger rates to the kHz level, it is suggested that a displaced vertex trigger could open up new parameter space for exotic decays and even direct production of light resonances. Various physics potentials are discussed including a singlet scalar mixing with the Standard Model Higgs and an axion-like particle with a coupling to gluons, motivated by hierarchy and strong CP problems, Dark Matter and baryogenesis. Collider searches for scalar singlets across lifetimes

Elina Fuchs et al.

Summary: This article investigates the role of Spin-0 singlets in extensions of the Standard Model and their impact on search strategies at hadron and lepton colliders. By exploring constraints from Higgs decays into a pair of singlets and various features, we compare the generic scalar singlet and the relaxion, deriving qualitative differences between them and discussing their natural parameter space and corresponding search methods.

Extraction of neutrino Yukawa parameters from displaced vertices of sneutrinos

Amit Chakraborty et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the displaced signatures of sneutrino pairs at the LHC, showing how these signatures can be established through a heavy Higgs portal with the sneutrinos decaying to charged leptons and charginos. The Yukawa parameters of neutrinos can be extracted by measuring the lifetime of the sneutrino from the displaced vertices, characterizing the dynamics of the underlying mechanism of neutrino mass generation. Our numerical results are presented for both current and High-Luminosity LHC cases.
