Deformed relativistic kinematics on curved spacetime: a geometric approach

Christian Pfeifer et al.

Summary: This article presents a systematic analysis of how deformed relativistic kinematics can be lifted to curved spacetimes in terms of a self-consistent cotangent bundle geometry. The analysis shows that momentum space metrics can be consistently lifted to curved spacetimes if they satisfy certain conditions. The article also discusses the connection between this construction and non-commutative spacetimes.

The Muon Puzzle in cosmic-ray induced air showers and its connection to the Large Hadron Collider

Johannes Albrecht et al.

Summary: High-energy cosmic rays are detected indirectly by observing extensive air showers in Earth's atmosphere. Accurate models of air shower physics are essential for interpreting these observations and testing QCD. However, current simulations show a significant deficit in the number of muons compared to measurements, known as the Muon Puzzle. The most plausible explanation for this discrepancy is a deviation in the composition of secondary particles produced in high-energy hadronic interactions from current model predictions.

Testing fundamental physics with astrophysical transients

Jun-Jie Wei et al.

Summary: Explosive astrophysical transients at cosmological distances can provide precise tests of the basic assumptions of relativity theory, such as Lorentz invariance and the zero-mass hypothesis of photons. The study discusses signatures of Lorentz invariance violations and the consequences of a non-zero photon rest mass. By utilizing astrophysical sources and methods like dispersion, tests on the weak equivalence principle and photon mass limits can be conducted effectively.

Probing Quantum Gravity with Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes

Tomislav Terzic et al.

Summary: This article reviews the unique role of high-energy photons from astrophysical sources in testing candidate theories of Quantum Gravity (QG) and specifically focuses on the application of Imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (IACTs) in measuring Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) and its consequences. By analyzing and comparing results obtained with IACTs over the past two decades, the study discusses the development and sensitivity of analysis methods, as well as suggests future directions for improving analysis sensitivity in the field.

Ultrahigh-energy photons from LHAASO as probes of Lorentz symmetry violations

Chengyi Li et al.

Summary: The LHAASO experiment detected ultra-high-energy photon emissions from twelve astrophysical gamma-ray sources, providing strong constraints to certain Lorentz symmetry violation frameworks. The observation of PeV-scale photons may hint at subluminal Lorentz violation in the proximity of the Planckian regime, and could be compatible with recent suggestions of light speed variation at the scale of 3.6 x 10(17) GeV from gamma-ray burst time delays. Further experiments detecting PeV photons from extragalactic sources may serve as a crucial test of subluminal Lorentz violation. These observations are consistent with a D-brane/string-inspired quantum-gravity framework, the space-time foam model.

Reaching the Planck scale with muon lifetime measurements

Iarley P. Lobo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of Planck scale modified dispersion relations on the propagation of fundamental point particles. By constructing Finsler length measurements, time dilation formulas are derived. The research suggests that momentum Lorentz factors in present and future colliders may be large enough to constrain the realization of dispersion relations.
