An insight into structural, electronic and optical characteristics of Mo1-xMxO3 (M = Zr, Y, ZrY) for the formation of conducting filaments in optoelectronic memory devices: A first principles study

Ejaz Ahmad Khera et al.

Summary: In this study, the structural, electronic and optical characteristics of Mo1-xMxO3 (M = Zr, Y, co-doped (ZrY)) for Optoelectronic Resistive Random-Access Memory (ORRAM) devices were theoretically investigated. Mo1-x(ZrY)(x)O-3 was found to be a suitable composite material with enhanced charge conductance and the ability to absorb a wide range of electromagnetic radiation wavelengths, making it the most fitted candidate for ORRAM and associated applications.

Structural, vibrational, mechanical, and optoelectronic properties ofLiBH4for hydrogen storage and optoelectronic devices: First-principles study

R. M. Arif Khalil et al.

Summary: Researchers are investigating the structural, vibrational, mechanical, and optoelectronic properties of lithium borohydride (LiBH4) as a promising candidate for hydrogen storage and optoelectronic devices. The energy band gap values indicate the insulating nature of LiBH4, while mechanical analysis shows it to be a brittle and stiffer material. Optical properties such as dielectric constant, refractive index, reflectivity, absorptivity, conductivity, and loss function were also studied, revealing potential applications beyond hydrogen storage.

Study of structural, optoelectronic and magnetic properties of Half-Heusler compounds QEuPa (Q= Ba, be, Mg, Sr) using first-principles method

Muhammad Abubakr et al.

Summary: The structural, optoelectronic and magnetic properties of Half-Heusler compounds QEuPa were investigated through first principles calculations, showing metallic behavior and strong absorption capabilities in the infrared region. Considerable magnetic moments were observed due to localized orbital splitting in these compounds.

Density functional theory insight into metal ions and vacancies for improved performance in storage devices

Umbreen Resheed et al.

Summary: This study investigates the crucial role of metal ions and oxygen vacancies in resistive switching materials, as well as the impact of Cu dopant and Cu + V-o on electronic properties of ATiO(3). BeTiCuO3 + V-o exhibits the lowest oxygen vacancy formation energy and highest conductivity, playing a key role in conducting filaments formation for the switching mechanism.

Effect of Nb, Ta and V replacements on electronic, optical and elastic properties of NbCu3Se4: A GGA+U study

Zeesham Abbas et al.

Summary: Developing efficient, renewable and eco-friendly energy sources, such as chalcogenides, for next-generation solar cells is crucial due to depletion of fossil fuels. Our study shows that NbCu3Se4 and TaCu3Se4 are semiconductor compounds, while VCu3Se4 is intermetallic. Different optical and electronic properties make them potential candidates for optoelectronic applications.

Sixfold degenerate nodal-point phonons: Symmetry analysis and materials realization

Chengwu Xie et al.

Summary: Degenerate phonons with maximum fold of six have been found in five space groups through symmetry analysis. A series of realistic materials hosting sixfold degenerate nodal-point phonons have been proposed, and the surface phonon spectrum of specific materials has been investigated, revealing two distinct projected phonon surface states on (110) or (100) surfaces.
