Visible light photocatalytic degradation of textile waste water by Co doped NiFe2O4 nanocomposite

Synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles has been intensively pursued due to their unique functional properties. In this paper a Co doped NiFe2O4 was synthesized. The magnetic measurements of Co doped NiFe2O4 showed that the photocatalyst material can be separated from water when an external magnetic field is applied and redispersed into water solution after the external magnetic field is eliminated. It is one of the promising photocatalysts for waste water treatment. The photocatalytic activity of Co doped NiFe2O4 was investigated by using the photo-decomposition of methylene blue and some textile dyes under visible light. The structure of this nanocomposite is studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, field emission scanning electron microscopy and scanning energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.
