Isolation and Identification of Antibacterial Bioactive Compounds From Bacillus megaterium L2

Yudan Xie et al.

Summary: Bacterial metabolites, including erucamide, behenic acid, palmitic acid, phenylacetic acid, and beta-sitosterol, were isolated and purified from Bacillus megaterium L2 for the first time. Among these compounds, beta-sitosterol demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity against RS-2, while behenic acid and phenylacetic acid showed potential for prevention and control of phytopathogenic bacteria.

Antifungal Activity of Minocycline and Azoles Against Fluconazole-Resistant Candida Species

Jingwen Tan et al.

Summary: Minocycline and posaconazole showed the best in vitro synergy effect, functioning against 94% (29/31) of tested strains. Combinations of MIN+itraconazole, MIN+voriconazole, and MIN+voriconazole exhibited synergistic activity against 84 (26/31), 65 (20/31), and 45% (14/31) of tested strains, respectively, with no antagonistic activity observed for any of these combinations. In vivo experiments in Galleria mellonella showed that combination treatment with MIN and azoles improved survival rates of larvae infected with FLU-resistant Candida, highlighting MIN as a promising synergistic compound for the treatment of FLU-resistant Candida infections.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
