Sea lettuce integrated with Pacific white shrimp and mullet cultivation in biofloc impact system performance and the sea lettuce nutritional composition

Esmeralda Chamorro Legarda et al.

Summary: This study found that integrated culture of sea lettuce with shrimp and mullet in a BFT system did not significantly affect the growth of shrimp and mullet, but it can increase the total yield and nitrogen and phosphorus recovery of the whole system. Additionally, it can also enhance the content of chlorophyll-a and carotenoids in the system without affecting the yield of ulvan extract.

Effects of stocking densities and feeding rates on water quality, feed efficiency, and performance of white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in an integrated system with sea grape Caulerpa lentillifera

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh et al.

Summary: The integrated multi-trophic system of white leg shrimp and sea grape significantly improved water quality, shrimp survival, growth rate, and yield. Higher shrimp density resulted in lower growth performance but increased yield. Controlling the feeding rate at 75% in the integrated system was found to be the most effective, reducing feed cost and improving water quality.

Current status of sea grapes (Caulerpa spp.) farming and wild harvesting in the Philippines

Jeremaiah L. Estrada et al.

Summary: This study conducted a multi-region socio-economic survey in selected regions in the Philippines to investigate the community perception and awareness of sea grapes and sea grape farming. It found that sea grapes are considered an economically important commodity in the Philippines, with peak production during the dry season in areas like Mactan, Cebu. Socio-economic factors such as gender, marital status, and education also play a role in the distribution and harvesting of sea grapes.
