Flexible Poly(ether-block-amide)/Carbon Nanotube Composites for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

Xiao-Yan Wang et al.

Summary: Flexible PEBA/CNT nanocomposites were fabricated for EMI shielding applications. CNTs nucleated the crystallization of the PA block of PEBA and induced the transformation of the crystals. Reducing the content of the PA block resulted in higher electrical conductivity and improved EMI shielding performances. When ionically conductive polyethylene oxide was used, the hindrance effect of PA crystallization on electrical percolation was effectively mitigated, allowing for high conductivity and enhanced amide dipole moment with a high PA content.

Influence of Carbon Micro- and Nano-Fillers on the Viscoelastic Properties of Polyethylene Terephthalate

Basheer A. Alshammari et al.

Summary: In this study, carbon fillers of different dimensions (graphite, graphite nano-platelets, and multiwall carbon nanotubes) were incorporated into a matrix of poly (ethylene terephthalate) to form carbon-reinforced polymer composites. Analysis using DMTA and SEM showed that all composites displayed a similar decline in storage moduli during the glassy to rubbery transition. However, storage moduli values at room temperature increased with higher loading of nano-fillers and then decreased due to the formation of agglomerates of nanotubes and/or rolled up of nano-platelets. The carbon nanotubes exhibited greater reinforcement compared to graphite and graphite nano-platelets. PET samples that underwent quenching showed significant changes in their dynamic mechanical properties due to filler addition and cold crystallization.
