Granular Natural Zeolites: Cost-Effective Adsorbents for the Removal of Ammonium from Drinking Water

Effect of organic concentration on biological activity and nitrogen removal performance in anammox biofilm system

Summary: Low concentrations of organic matter have a positive impact on the synergy between anammox and denitrifying bacteria, resulting in high total nitrogen removal efficiency. However, high concentrations of organic matter inhibit the activity of anammox bacteria, leading to decreased total nitrogen removal efficiency as denitrification becomes the main pathway. High-throughput sequencing analysis showed changes in relative abundance of certain bacterial phyla with increasing organic matter concentration.
