Reveal the threat of water quality risks in Yellow River Delta based on evidences from isotopic and hydrochemical analyses

Chengcheng Xia et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the seasonal and spatial characteristics of hydrochemistry and D-O isotopes in the Yellow River Delta, and identifies the eco-environmental threats caused by saline intrusion and human activities. The analysis of major ions, nitrate ions, and isotopic composition confirms the mixing between multiple sources and evaporation. Various indicators, such as electrical conductivity, concentration of nitrate, soluble sodium percentage, and magnesium hazard, are used to assess ecological risks. Hierarchical cluster analysis reveals three patterns of risks in the wetlands, including saline intrusion, human activities, and their combined influence.

Spatial and temporal distributions of stable isotopes in precipitation over Thailand

Jeerapong Laonamsai et al.

Summary: The isotopic composition of precipitation in Thailand shows spatial and temporal variations due to differences in moisture sources and climate zones. The isotopic values in the northeast monsoon and southwest monsoon are influenced by local moisture and rainout effects, respectively. The correlation between isotopic values and geographical factors differs between the two monsoon systems, with the southwest monsoon showing more significant correlations.

Isotopic temporal and spatial variations of tropical rivers in Thailand reflect monsoon precipitation signals

Jeerapong Laonamsai et al.

Summary: Stable isotopic compositions of 25 rivers in Thailand were analyzed monthly from 2013 to 2015. The study found that monsoon precipitation significantly influences river isotopes, leading to spatial and temporal variations in isotopic compositions among different geographical regions. This research can be used to explore hydrological interactions in other tropical river basins.

Identifying and quantifying groundwater inflow to a stream using 220Rn and 222Rn as natural tracers

Yong Hwa Oh et al.

Summary: This study in South Korea aimed to identify and quantify groundwater inflow to a stream based on the spatial and temporal distributions of Rn-220 and Rn-222 activities. The research found higher Rn-222 activities at high altitudes compared to low altitudes, estimated groundwater inflow rates and types in different stream sections. Spatial surveys of Rn-220 indicated dominant point source discharge of groundwater to stream water along the stream.
